The expedition to the deepest and most difficult cave of Ukraine Soldatskaya is over

At last the last participants of this year’s expedition to Crimea have returned.  This expedition can be distinguished by the variety of tasks and the number of participants. There were 19 people from Lithuania and five Ukrainians from Kharkov, leaded by Andrey Kovalev. One part of participants (6 persons) consisted of this year speleo school students, their leader was Raimondas Daniūnas. The other part of the team, leaded by Aidas Gudaitis, worked in the deepest and most difficult cave of Ukraine – Soldatskaya (category of difficulty 4B, depth -508 m). The task was fulfilled successfully and the bottom of the cave was reached by the team of three persons: Laura Tamoševičė, Mindaugas Tamoševičius and Giedrius Steiblys .

Besides Soldatskaya we managed to visit a lot of the most beautiful caves of Karabi-Yayla and even gave a poke into the “Lithuanian” caves Sezam (it was very wet and impossible to work) and Venta (though it wasn’t dry also, but we worked a little bit in it).

Photos from this expedition are already exposed in our photo album...
